The final price of a translation is of course based on many factors. How technical is the document? What will it be used for (internal use, publication on your company web site)? Do you require extra services such as OCR or additional proofreading? However, as a guide, here are some typical prices. For a more accurate quote, please send your document for a translation quote.
A compromis de vente of typical length will cost around £400-500 (450-600 Euros) to translate. If the contract contains additional clauses due to an atypical situation (for example, some properties may contain highly specific arrangements due to easements, agreements on the use of shared parts of a property etc), then the price may be a little higher.
The English translations that I provide of French property contracts are based on consultancy with specialists in both French and UK real estate, and generally aim to provide a balance between readability for English speakers buying property in France and legal accuracy. If you have any specific requirements, please indicate this when you ask for a translation quote.
If you only have the contract in printed form, please submit it scanned in a common format such as JPG. If you need to fax the document, please contact me for more details.
A typical price for a PowerPoint translation (French-English or English-French) of about 20 slides will be around £150 (180 Euros). Of course, this depends on the number of words per slide and on the complexity of editing the PowerPoint document. The price may be higher, for example, if you require the translation of captions of complex images. If there are notes on the slide, please indicate if you require these to be translated when you send your document for a translation quote.
The translation of a typical CV and covering letter will come to around £100 (120 Euros), depending on the length.
The total translation price is determined by the number of words plus other requirements, such as whether pictures, diagrams and tables need to be altered. A technical manual will usually cost around £80-100 per 1,000 words to be translated, depending on the field and level of specialist knowledge required.
Please note that this price is for a high-quality translation that will read as though it was an original document written by a skilled writer writing in their native language.
Translation of these documents are priced by the word, with the rate being determined by the complexity and technicality of the language, and on what additional consultancy with specialists in the field is required for the translation.
If your material is for a web site, then the translation will generally attempt to strike a correct balance between sounding natural whilst incorporating certain "SEO-aware" features such as ensuring that common keywords are included in key places. There will generally be no extra charge for making the web site "SEO savvy". However, if you have any specific requirements, then please indicate these.
Advice on on-line adverts and keywords can usually be included for an additional £50 (60 Euros). I also provide clients with a general document giving some advice on choosing keywords for Google Adsense (and other similar systems) in common European languages.
