(a) to understand a person, a language; to understand, get (Infml) a joke, what somebody says; mal ~ to misunderstand somebody, not get a joke; to have difficulty understanding a language; comprends-moi bien, mais... don't get me wrong, but...

(b) to understand, sympathise with a person's situation; to understand, appreciate what somebody means; j'espère que tu comprendras I hope you'll understand; je comprends bien ton point de vue I sympathise completely; je comprends bien ce que tu dis I understand what you mean, I get where you're coming from (Infml)

(c) (at specific moment) to realise, understand (pourquoi, why, comment, how)

(d) to include rent, service charge, accessories; (in total) to comprise, consist of; "service (non) compris" "service (not) included"
